River was at 0.61 fining down after recent floods. Some clarity, about 18 inches or so. Fished mostly euro for some decent sized fish. A tiny sporadic hatch of small uprights on a mild, sunny January day, but no risers. Not a bad venue. Will return

Great to get back out on the Arrow. Fished from 10am to 4pm, trotting maggots. Weather was good with some nice winter sun and milder conditions. River a little high 0.38m at Titley Mill.
Five grayling landed all around 10" to 12" and an out of season trout.

Absolutely fantastic day out at one of my favorite beats to fish anywhere. Access is great, but without seeming overly maintained or manicured which I admire the owner for. There are different types of water to suit all types of flyfishing.
It was a bit of a tough go for the fishing. The weather has been really cold for the past 10 days or so and I couldn't manage to find the grayling. I landed two OOS brownies which were very lively and safely returned. I can't wait to come back during warmer weather.

Beat:Pontithel - River Llynfi
Fishing:Winter Grayling

Gauge at 0.56, water at a nice level. Access very easy. Caught both fish on an orange tag blowtorch nymph and lost two others (1 grayling and another oos trout).
The grayling caught was a lovely size, around 1.5lbs, and in pristine condition. Although no fish rising there were a lot of small flys coming off as the day warmed, the river appears to be in great health and I will return in spring.

No fish, I think it was a bit cold and the river was quite low at about half a metre on the Cilmery gauge. Still nice to get out

A bit of a slow, cold day on the grayling front - not unexpected given the conditions. The only fish we saw fell from the sky - this nice brown trout that was coughed up whole by a flight of 5 cormorants that passed overhead.

0.63 on Disserth guage and falling, -4oC mid morning, snow still on ground, 18" visibility.
First time on this river. Tough day . First and only bite at dusk after covering as much if the beat I could access. I guess I was a day or too early (too much colour?) or the snow-melt killed it?
In winter, when wading up/downstream is not allowed I would say only 25-30% of beat is accessible. Requires some ingenuity to reach the water in places (and my waders succumbed the barbed wire)
1 Grayling
