Superb day at Upper Bigsweir, quite a few fish showing and thankfully managed to hook one! A 6lb coloured hen fish. Fly was an Orange Tay Raider and caught in the Little Run.
Being a novice, the ghillie Nathan's knowledge and guidance was invaluable and I was very well looked after. Convert to salmon fishing and will definitely be back.

what a lovely beat this is!! as I've never fished this before I did not venture out to deep as my waders are rubber soled and as the write up states felt soles are a must. Smallest grayling 10 inches and the largest which was the first of the day a brute of 20 inches all the rest between 13-18 inches. Half fell for duo tungsten beads fished very deep and the rest to size 16 olive cdc dry patterns. Some of these pools are extremely deep and will most definitely hold some very sizable fish. I hooked and lost one on the dry which was also very big. a stunning and very well kept fishery, a pleasure to fish.

Wow! What a day! My (Karen's) first salmon after four long years of trying. A slightly coloured hen that Dave estimated to be 11 - 12lbs. I didn't know they could fight that hard! It was hooked in Armies Pool on a size 10 fly tied by Dave that was a based on a Tail Fire Shrimp. She was released in the water by Dave and she went away strongly. The river seemed steady from yesterday with the water at around a foot on the gauge.
Throughout the day we were tempted away from salmon fishing by some rising grayling and we had one each on dry flies weighing around 1lb each.
After thinking that salmon were mythical creatures that didn't really exist I am well and truly hooked and will be back next week for more!

5lbs caught by Nick James from Ferry and another lost. Party of canoeists caused disruption (no fish caught later) and claimed existing agreement null and void. Spoke to them at Boughrood and found that majority of canoeists had been misled by leader into undertaking trip.

River was very low and clear tried various different swims to no avail. Managed to catch a low double figure pike on a large deadbait. The barbel were scarce throughout the stretch with only one small fish landed between the six anglers. Beautiful place sometimes the "catching" doesn't matter does it !
