Water level rose considerably during the day and the strong flow and constant stream of debris made for difficult fishing conditions. These improved slightly in the late afternoon when the barrage of weed etc abated. 2 of the barbel (one of 9.5lbs) caught on meat (on the hair) and all other fish on pellet. Everything considered, a good result.

The river was partly over the cribs which provided some nice "crease" swims. Found the fish by moving around several times, in between the heavy rain. Heavy feeders again and pellets for the barbel (and 1 eel) and some chub on sweetcorn. A nice but wet day.

Arrived to a overcast mild day with the river carrying a little colour and looking in perfect condition. We started on the middle to upper stretch alternating between feeder fished maggots, caster and hemp and trotting on the pin, many small chub and dace present. A switch to pellet feeder at midday bought the barbel on the feed with several fish to 9lb falling to our rods, all were in fin perfect condition and looked like they had never been caught before, a solitary chub at 51b 2oz was a welcome addition.
A switch to big rubber lures during the last hour of light provided two perch at around the 2lb mark.
Yet another really enjoyable days fishing on the brilliant river Wye.

Rained all morning and into the afternoon, so I delayed arrival until 3pm as the forecast was for drier weather late in the day.
Still raining on arrival, but only light so I made my way down to the end of the beat and began fishing upstream with a nymph. The water was still low and clear despite the downpour, but no takers.
Got back to the bridge in the middle of the beat with about an hour of daylight left and, as there had been some fly activity, switched to a dry fly and continued upstream. 3 trout caught before fading light brought the day to an end.
Lovely river and surroundings - mist over the hills looked very dramatic.
I must be the only angler not to catch a grayling from Lyepole, but I enjoyed my visit all the same.

The river was quite coloured but we fished it with great (misplaced) optimism anyway. It is a lovely stretch of water. Weather rather wet until mid afternoon.

River rising rapidly, up 0.3m between 07.00 and 11.00. Conditions very good and the work that Mick has been doing on the banks and access routes was excellent. Sadly no fish.

No fish seen all day. The river was quite coloured. Height was 1ft 5 inches on the Gromian marker. It rained most of the day. Light wind only. This is a wonderful beat. It was a huge pleasure to be able to have a day here, so big thanks to the Foundation for setting up the admin.
