A difficult day, the weather not what we expected at all, two heavy thunder storms with fork lightning and torrential rain restricted the fishing somewhat but did manage to land
3 Barbel, 4 Chub and 1 eel. All fish taken on meat.

3 Barbel, 4 Chub, 1 Other

Novice to salmon fishing so an absorbing afternoon trying spinning tackle and tactics. Not sure the thunder, downpours and colouring of the river helped. 2 salmon seen surfacing but no connections this time.

Only managed a couple of hours fishing between the thundery showers. No fish caught but several splashing about in the gravel catch.

Rain, thunder storm, rain, sun. 2 trout, 3 grayling all super fit fish. Small dries and nymphs caught. Will return.

£45 is an outrageous amount. Nice place and 5 barbel but no effort has been put in by the Foundation to create any decent swims. In fact from the entrance to the bridge there are few accesable swims unless you want to fish fast shallows. Won't go on this stretch again.
WUF Note: There are several croys from which to fish upstream of the bridge at Caradoc that give access to deeper water.

River perfect, four good fish up to 3lb, all taken on dry fly, no fish taken.

Dry fly river good five trout up to a pound.

River was pushing through more than normal, overcast and cold. Still managed to temped a few Barbel best 5lbs on pellet. Fishing lower section near Backney beat. One of the Barbel about 4 lbs had a sore/infection on its anus.

Overcast all day but no rain. River slightly high. Caught from several different swims on feeder and pellet.

Have been holidaying in Wales for the last few years fishing in lakes, came across the passport scheme on a fishing forum, what a wonderful resource. Having read as many reviews as I could, booked two beats for what would be my first time river fishing in forty years. Access was overgrown but I followed the trail of a previous fisherman, the beat provides plenty of variety, overgrown in places, but as a complete novice I always felt confident in my wading. The weather was overcast and windy but the beat is sheltered. I fished from 11 till about 4.30. I started with a weighted pheasant tailed nymph and I lost the first one to a tree on about cast three, after that I was a bit more careful. I saw a few fish rising in the first half an hour. I fished nymphs without success until lunch when I noticed some fly on the water and changed to dry fly for the afternoon. Three very small wbt fell to a parachute Adams and one to a olive quill CDC, all safely returned, suddenly I'm a river fisherman! Secluded, peaceful and challenging everything I wanted, a great day.
