Had a few hours today hoping the grayling were rising. On arrival at 2.30pm they were nailed hard on the bottom so nymphing it was to be. Picked up about 8 grayling to 15 inches and 10 trout up to the road bridge then the heavens opened and it absolutely lashed it down for an hour. After this there was a half decent trickle of olives which the grayling rose for. I picked off a further 8 grayling all between 10-13 inches to a size 18 olive and a couple more trout and it chucked it down again so decided to call it a day. Fantastic beat with a very good head of grayling..

Beat:Middle Hill Court
Fishing:Coarse

Another great day on the Middle Hill Court beat. I fished the top swims just below the Vanstone pool and although it was a hot day the fishing was steady. Fished pellet and feeder tactics to mid-river and later in the day moved downstream a swim and changed to a centrepin and fished close in. All the fish were hard fighting and around the average 5-7lb mark. 7 Barbel in total and one eel. Left with the fish still feeding.
Till next time.........

Lovely day and conditions were good - river at reasonable level and running clear. Trout rising in places but not particularly easy to catch on dry fly. Managed to get 5 WBT on black and silver nymph and olive CDC. All fish returned.

Beat:Ty Newydd
Fishing:Trout (River)
No. of Anglers:1
Not sure why but Ty Newydd, on my visits, never shows much surface activity. Today was no different despite a big rise of olives about 4pm. Fish were feeding however and so a team of three wets, with a weighted one on the point, interested them well enough. Most fish came to an olive spider with a hint of rusty orange at the thorax. As to size; best trout was 10"' best grayling a little over. Lost one pretty large grayling when he threw the hook close to the net. Temperature was about 20degC and the Llanstephan gauge showed 18".
