Beautiful location unfortunately, never caught. Just a couple of issues I like to point out - the swims are very dangerous for the angler, access being one and the steepness makes it difficult at times. At Middle Hill Court my brother actually went into the river and managed to to scramble out luckily enough because being further down the bank I didn't hear him go in. This is just to inform you of the difficulty we had so this end up with someone drowning. This did not spoil our fishing on your beautiful stretch of the river and will definitely be coming back, thank you again for a wonderful couple of days.
WUF Note: All riverbanks can be dangerous, especially when wet. We urge all anglers to take extreme care when fishing, whether on the Wye or any other river. If you prefer Wye fisheries with easy access, please contact the Booking Office for advice on 01874 712 074.

After a weekend of heavy rain we were met by a coloured and rising river. Debris washed down by the strong current proved problematic, and we spent our time fishing the slower water between the overhanging tree's/snags. Overall a cracking day on a picturesque stretch of the River Wye, already looking forward to our return.

Fabulous day on one of my favourite stretches. Day started badly with a stinging wasp attack but soon picked up. Rising river brought the Barbel out to play. Bigest 10lb 2oz, 9lb 7oz, 9lb 4oz, 9lb 3oz, 9lb 2oz to mention a few. Numerous eights. Boilies with groundbait feeder tactics did the damage. Great beat, thank you Wye & Usk will be back soon

Water very low so had to find fishable areas where there was a flow into a pool. 4 Trout around 6 inches, lost a couple of bigger ones on a small Tungsten bead nymph. Fished from the second bridge to the wooded section between 2 and 4.

Water still clear despite the heavy rain over the last 36 hours. Level returned to quite low again though and more stealth than I possess was required for most of the pools. I did however get quite adept at spotting the shadows darting away in the distance ! Weather was bright and relatively warm, even a brisk wind rippling the water on occasion. 3 trout caught (4-10"), 2 of them to a tan klinkhammer, 1 to a bead head olive nymph. However, the tree canopy can consider itself victorious today as it claimed more of my flies than I caught trout! Fished until I started to get wet from the late afternoon showers, although it had stopped by the time I got back to the car so I decided to throw a tenkara line through the pools upstream of the bridge which resulted in a 5" wbt to a bead head nymph.
Obviously been some weather in the area. A fairly large tree has fallen across the stream about 1/2 way along the beat. Harder to navigate than the barbed wire and needed a hands and knees crawl in the shallows. Also, it looks as though the fallen trunk right at the end of the beat has shifted as I couldn't see the end of beat marker. Didn't hang around too long looking as I was getting damp by then.
Shared the beat at various points with; kingfisher; couple of dippers; plenty of wagtails; had to shift the bull and his ladies from the drinking point (thankfully enough driftwood around to act as a prodder because he wasn't going to move otherwise and I couldn't get passed!); and for once no swimming dogs!

A tough day at Sugwas where we fished the middle and lower sections. We would have preferred to fish the upper section but the weather / conditions were not appropriate. Two fish were taken early in the day and then very quiet after that.

Good days fishing, mixed weather with the odd shower. Water clarity was very good and made spotting the odd fish relatively easy. Between 2 of us we took 26 fish, 20 grayling and 6 brown trout. The largest of the grayling were approx 1 1/2lb - 2lb and largest of the trout around 1lb. All fish were caught using czech nymphing method and caught on a variety of www.barbless-flies.co.uk
