A pleasant afternoon fishing. Good access in a great environment. Had a number of takes and had one 1lb trout on a ptn.

1 Trout

We caught two trout, one on a dry fly one on a wet fly. The river looked in perfect condition and the weather was sunny intervals with no rain. There were plenty of flies hatching and drifting along the river, both upwing flies and sedges but the trout didn't seem interested in them. We found the banks a little hard going and it wasn't obvious how to access the upper section.
The booking system was excellent with no problems experienced.

2 Trout

Fished Marle Bed and The Point with fly and spinner but nothing seen or touched. One shad on the fly. 9" on Fownhope gauge.

late report fish 12lb caught on a home tied fly

1 Salmon

nothing caught.

All on the dry best just under 2lb. and returned safely. A nice spot to spend the afternoon.

8 Trout

We fished method mix with hemp and sweetcorn and corn hookbait. Two carp of five and seven pounds were landed plus roach and a surprising perch on sweetcorn. Water, as previously mentioned, was very coloured and shallow.

4 Other

River in nice condition having cleared after rain in the preceding week. Colder than forecast with stiff breeze / wind - limited insect activity but some fish rising. Missed several takes and eventually landed small 6" trout and hooked another, both on nymph below a generic upwing dry pattern dropper.

Excellent beat with good wading and trout rising to abundant fly hatches. Should have had many more fish but the group of anglers was inexperienced. The fish were returned and neither caught or lost anything over half a pound.

2 Trout

Following yesterday's marathon, managed a couple of hours only in the morning to no great effect other than to enjoy the Usk valley.
