2 fish taken. Lots of mayfly but relatively few fish rising. Fish taken on mayfly nymph. River looks healthy and lovely location /scenery. Wading harder than the description but maybe this was partly due to strong flow of the river

First time to the River Loughor so we were a little apprehensive about trying somewhere new. Unfortunately it didn't start well as we were flooded off for the first 24 hours with some unexpected rain... However, as a spate river it dropped and cleared relatively quickly so we were up and running soon after. Trout fishing during the day in bright sunshine and temperatures of over 20 degrees was tough but we landed a good amount of small, beautifully marked brownies. I need to mention Lyn Davies, who is a local fishing guide, he gave us some excellent advice on where to fish and how to fish the river. We did manage a night's sea trout fishing and after a rise in river level we were hopeful that we would have a couple of opportunities at them. Well, as we were fishing our way down our first pool, James, who was fishing in front of me with a surface lure got smashed by a very decent fish on his fifth cast! Unfortunately after some thrashing on the surface the fish came off! Expletives were used.... but an encouraging start. 10 mins later as I was swinging a fly on an intermediate line I had a tiny pluck from the darkness. I struck and a nice sea trout started cartwheeling around the pool. After a short fight we landed a lovely 2 pound sea trout. She was safely released to carry on her journey. What great couple of days on a gem of a river. Definitely not an easy river to fish but once you get the hang of it the rewards could be very worth wile. We shall return...

Interesting beat, first time for me and not as aware as I should of been about the type of beat. Very overgrown banks and not easy to get to the water. Should really have had lighter tackle but having said that it was a lovely afternoon. No fish, did see one rise and covered but no take. It is a beat that keeps you healthy with the climbing and scrambling but good fun when you get used to it.

Fished during afternoon with salmon rod /fly for a couple of hours, the pools down to Heirag on upper section, thundery rain showers, No salmon but had a nice pull from a lively 8oz brown that took a cascade, something anyway on the line and pleasant to be there despite the showers. A small mayfly hatch during the first half of the afternoon brought up a few of the smaller fish. Only one large fish was feeding, but only on the natural.
