Fished two short sessions. 17th ( 10.00 -15.00) and 18th (16.30 - 19.30). I wish I could have stayed longer! The WUF description of the beat is accurate and all of the water is accessible and wading easy, when required.
Two WBT of about 10oz, caught and returned on 18th, both on size 14 GRHE nymph. Sadly I missed a good olive hatch, earlier that day, when a fellow angler, apparently had some spectacular sport. On the 17th I blanked, largely due to my lack of practice on such challenging water!
It is ten years since I had fished the middle Usk and had forgotten just how difficult it can be.
Conditions cloudy with good breaks of bright sunshine, but a cold wind. Water very clear and fish easily spooked. Great fishing that tests ones skills to the limit - not to be missed

Fished a party of rods Tues-Fri at Whitney. Terry as ever helpful, knowledgeable and a good guide to all on this beat. River was dropping back quietly from rains of previous week and was clear and very 'fishy'. Many shad seen breeding on the gravels, a good rise of fat trout , some caught and returned, and yes salmon seen in every pool except beat 2. Probably needs a a couple of inches to freshen up the pools and get salmon moving. Excellent .

We returned all the fish. Fairly windy day, but fish rising most of the day, but only in a couple of pools. We only fished dry flies and Klinkhammers. The best flies were Adams, Hares Ear Klink, Sherry Spinner and a Brown Sedge last thing. There were natural Mayflies of various sizes but our imitations were not as successful as the other flies.
We very much enjoyed our day and will certainly like to come again.

Weather good and water 0.64m with some colour. I opted for trout as did John Lewis. We both tied MB spiders and I fished the top run and rockpool with no offers at all in 4 hrs. John fared much better in the faster water of the woodstream and landed 2 fish of 1lb and half pound, and had several other offers.
I refished the topend with a team of weighted nymphs with no luck.
Unable to fish late.

Great day on Whitney Court today. My first Wye spring salmon followed by a second. First fish from Loxters pool around 13lb (few weeks in river)and a second one from beat 3 opposite the house around 10lb (very fresh few days at most) also turned another fish of around the same size. Both on FC. Also 10+ Shad of various sizes and 3 Trout
Thanks to Terry for all the advice and help.
Terry also had a salmon yesterday of 8lb on fly.
