A tough day with bites hard to come by on feeder/leger tactics. We both caught plenty of small fish on trotting maggots, and MS caught a 4.5lb Chub and a lovely 3lb Brownie. We both worked hard with different baits and tactics, but we put our lack of success mainly down to low water levels. The Wye beautiful as ever. Just a note: the farmer has fenced off the field alongside the long row of trees and put cattle in. This means 4WD access is no longer possible down to the riverbank. Parking is available just through the gate, but a 150 yard walk required.

River lower and slower since my last visit 2 weeks ago. Tried several swims throughout the day never got a bite from anything.

Fishing slow with water so low and clear however I persevered with the pellet feeder and managed 4 barbel over the full day at the top of the fishery. Biggest at exactly 10 and 9lb came in the evening. As always delightful scenery and wildlife. Thank you WUF.

Having arrived at the beat to find near perfect conditions expectations that this would be "The" day were high. With 12 Barbel landed one would think that was indeed the case,
however, with 11 of them and the Chub falling to one rod it was a tough day for the other two!! That said still a joy to be on the river, and well done Big Nige. Best fish
8lb. 12oz.

A lovely stretch of river with two beats easily accessible by car. Terry's advice very helpful. Water level low - no barbel caught. Chub to 3 1/2 lb. Thank you Wye & Usk.

Fished the far west in the morning and caught one 2.5lb rainbow on viva. Moved to the east end p.m in increasing wind and no further success.

Given up sitting it out for the big one, on the stick, maggots, light feed. Nice day again. Brown trout 2lbs and bite size, chub both around 4.5lbs, again grinding out fish as we can due to low water and warm bright days. Lots of salmon seen holding up again.

First time we fished this beat and 4th time on the Wye this year. Bit disappointed we haven't seen any WUF private fishing signs yet on the banks? and shame we couldn't drive to the upper section as the road was closed. In clear river conditions we did have 2 nice barbel on meat and lost one on the middle deeper section. There is a club on the opposite bank who fish it regular, but seemed friendly enough.

Really nice days fishing on a superb stretch of river, during which my father caught his first Barbel at the age of 72. River had a bit of colour in it after the recent rain and the fish fed throughout the day. Barbel to 8.5lb and Chub to 4lb+ on groundbait and pellet feeder and also had a few decent Chub and a couple of lively Brownies on stick float and maggot, which was good fun wading mid-river. Will definitely try and fish again next year.

Disappointing day due to heavy rain overnight and early morning, making access to swims easy for a mountain goat but very slippery for old boy with a hip like mine.
Managed to set up in a swim opposite the downstream end of the island but a combination of leaves, abundant weed, more rain, vertigo and no bites made me give up after 3 hours.
A 300 mile round trip for nothing.
