I fished as a guest of Shaun Watkins, the fishing was tough very cold not much of a hatch, but there were little hatches for about 15 mins or so at a time, we caught the fish we got on emerger patterns size 16-14, olive and brown, the most of the hatches were on the upper stretch of the beat.

2 brown trout caught and released. Green gold head nymph size 10. Olive and black fuzzy damsel nymph size 12. Both approx. 14 oz. Snapped twice. Once on gold head Montana size 12, once on size 14 black epoxy buzzer.

I saw a good number of fish raising to a recent hatch, however the fish were still pretty picky. The river conditions were good with clear water. I caught one trout on a dry fly in the flats, which weighted about 1.5lbs. The fish was in good condition if a bit lean!

Started at 10......absolutely no fly life nor fish despite favourable weather.......finally a small fish on a GRH nymph size 16....decided to move on at 1pm.

arrived at 1.30.....flies hatching fish jumping....fish v.selective all 4 trout on size 18 parachute Adams ....missed a bunch!

.......arrived at 1.30 after a unproductive morning on the Dulas middle beat....flies hatching fish jumping but v. selective....determined to fish dry fly and took 4 small fish on various size 18 olive patterns. Beautiful now the spring colours are appearing! Anybody new to this beat should be aware that the bedrock is super slippery when wading...take care,nearly came a cropper couple of times!
