2ft 3" 4ft vis and dropping very slowly. Warmish sunny afternoon with a few LDO's and Grannom on the wing. Had time to trawl a monkey through likely spots in Bridge, Gravel catch and Rock to no avail. Don't like fishing sunk line, often find myself feeling it isn't deep enough over the lies and then it inevitably hangs up on the inside. Oh for a few weeks time when the sink-tips and size 8's can come out.
Left river when water levels inside waders had equalised with the water level on the outside them!

The brook was running high and fast, but only coloured not muddy. Saw the odd fly until 1.30, when a short cold and vicious hailstorm descended. Sunny after that, but no flies appeared and nothing rising. However, pleased to land 3 X 9" trout on gold head nymphs, from the bits of slacker water around. First trout of the season, but finished knackered after wading against the flow for 5 hours - just have to keep fit...

No Trout caught unfortunately. On arrival the conditions were favourable.I set up a three cast Traditional cast of Zulu, Bibio and Black Concoction double on the point..
The wind stopped and the sun made an appearance whilst leaving the roadside!! Not a mix that bodes well with wild Brown trout fishing.
My 7 year old son Lewis and I enjoyed the experience of just being in such wonderful wild surroundings!
One matter of a catch and release ticket would be a great addition to the ticket option for Llyn Talybont.
Diolch/Thanks!!

What a lovely day to be fishing, sun shone, snow on the Carmarthen Fans, red kites circling above. Normally this means that the fish are absent but today was an exception. 4 rainbows in fine fettle taken on a small mepps type spinner (ok an Aldi special) fished slow and deep. No interest in my worms fished either on the bottom or on the float. in addition to the 4 fish landed I hooked and lost a couple more. A lovely morning and a joy to see that the banks are still relatively litter free.

River dropping slowly and clearing. Became fishable around 3pm. Then the snow set in! Around 40 minutes fishing. One 12" fish on nymph. Great to be here but not really spring yet. Temperature 1 degree C on return to car!

The river was is surprisingly good condition when you consider the storm we had on Sunday night. Although, unfortunately it didn't fish that well with just one take all day during the driving afternoon rain. The fish took a gold head olive and slipped the hook after just a few seconds but the surroundings and wildlife more than made up for the poor weather and nil catch return.
