I thought I would have a look at Talybont Res after being washed off Fenni-Fach due to very coloured water that made it very dangerous to wade. The odd fish showed itself but they were frolicking not feeding with some good sized fish leaping clear of the water. There was very little insect life due to a rather chilly wind so after a few hours I gave in. A beautiful spot which I will try again. Thanks WUF for your good service.

RAIN THUNDER LIGHTNING. Funny, because I thought it was supposed to be the GLOURIOUS 16th! Not a great start but it is a privilege to be here for the 1st day of the season.
Thanks to WUF.

River was a light chocolate colour and pushing through quite well. Between us we tried various spots from the end of beat 4 towards the start of beat 6. I lost a barbel at about 7am then had a chub of almost 4lbs at about lunchtime. Tom had a couple of chub of 3lbs+ in the evening but the barbel evaded us. Tried meat, pellets and paste. Lovely looking stretch and would like to have a go when the water was within my summer comfort range. Did see an otter, a mink, multiple salmon leaping clear of the water and an interesting variety of birds.

Fished with pellets in the slower, deeper, nearside swims in the middle of the stretch. River was brown and tanking through, with large tree debris coming down the beat. Caught 4 barbel and 3 chub, of no great size, but pleased with the action given the conditions.

River strongly coloured and a little high. Nothing rising. Fished with nymph. Caught three, all small and returned.
On a better day I am sure this easily accessible beat would offer more. Will return.

Fish were taken on size 14 Grey Dusters and sedge patterns. Dusters were fished static but the sedges proved more effective when moved. All fish were released, best around 1lb 6oz. River was running slightly coloured. We both really enjoyed the experience and will definitely return.
