The river was running fast with the rain that fell at the start of the week. Needed a 5oz feeder to hold bottom. Bright frosty morning water temp. only 5c, air only 6c by the end of the day.
Started opposite the island and had to fish down the side as could not hold mid stream with 5oz feeder. No fish no bites. Moved back up to mid way between fence and island. No fish no bites. Moved above fence (with little bridge) late afternoon and had one barbel 7lb 5oz and lost one
only 3 feet from the side on 12mm halibut pellet.
Off to The Middle Hill Court Fishery tomorrow. Hope water warms up!

A lovely day spent on the Irfon. The water level wasn't particularly high and water was clear, which was surprising considering the amount of rain we have had recently. Caught 1 ten inch grayling on a size 14 pheasant tail nymph. We will definitely return when it gets a little warmer.

Lovely spring-like day. Temp c. 8C-10C and bright. No wind. Water cold. Fished bugs on bottom. Sporadic Dark Olives floated down from mid-day until around 3pm. One good-looking trout about 1.5lb on a pheasant-tail nymph on dropper. Two or three rises. Fished with guide Chris Price, who I would thoroughly recommend. And his Kelly kettle was a great warmer! Following a deluge on Tuesday night we arrived to find swollen brown torrent where once used to be the river Wye...! Needless to say optimism was not high.
We started on the lower stretch casting to any likely looking close in slacks and slowly leapfogged our way to the upper stretch, needless to say fish or bites were not forthcoming, by mid afternoon the levels had dropped significantly although still far from ideal.
RB managed a chub of 4lb and a barbel around 7lb mark both to luncheon meat, my brother enjoyed an entirley biteless day...roll on tomorrow.!

The River was running high and as red as a fox! Having expressed our concerns the day before on the river conditions we were advised by the office we could go ahead with the day's fishing. Given there was no other day available before the end of the season we desided to go ahead. We fished luncheon meat on the lead and late in the afternoon a 5 LB chub was caught. This is the first time we have fished the Wye and Usk water and came away feeling the price tag was too high!
We spent a lot of the day trying to find suitable swims to fish as these were few due to the conditions. We hope to re visit the water next season and try our luck when conditions would be more favourable. Tight lines everyone.

River too heavily coloured from run off after heavy rain two days previously and the river was up three foot on normal. We probably should have asked for a wash out but we decided to fish in the hope conditions would improve during the day which, unfortunately they didn't. We fished in the few slacks we could find, trying a variety of baits but we had no bites. After five hours and with the river, if anything, getting even dirtier, we decided to call it a day.

Moonhead bevan had a 9:3 barbel on 2nd cast ever into the Wye in a slack water eddy (pellet feeder). River extremely high, couldn't hold bottom with 10oz gripper feeder current was pushing way too fast to fish but we stuck it out fishing the slack water spots, could only fish 2 foot of the bank or current would take your rig downstream. Stayed all day but only one fish for MH, blankety blank for me. Never mind there's always next time!

River was a bit too high and fast to fish really but tried hard with some tungsten bugs to no avail.
