Lovely piece of water this, bank opposite the island has lots of good looking barbel areas and upstream and downstream of this is deeper and slower so better for higher water.
Colour dropped out of the river overnight and day was brilliant sunshine, so not condusive to fishing and an early departure too meant not being able to stay the last few hours. So no fish caught.... However access was good, easy walk across the fields (no Caravans!) and would certainly visit this beat again.

River clear but low. Few rises towards the end of the afternoon. Wet fly/nymph for trout - unsuccessful but lovely day by the river.

Arrived around 2:00pm. The weather was mostly sunny and the river was low and clear.
It took a while to find the fish as it was my first time on this beat... Ending up in the furthest swim I had 6 Barbel on pellet/feeder plus a couple of Chub. The biggest Barbel was 7lb+ and one of the Chub was 4lb+.
A good days fishing on this lovely stretch of river.
Many thanks WUF.

All set for another good day. Conditions exactly the same as previous day, there was even a little light cloud. You all know the feeling. Results say all. Still think this place is excellent and enjoyed it.

There was reasonable water and a few flies hatching, although the fish never really quite got going. Small emergers were the order of the day.
2 fish and a great day on this lovely beat.
Many Thanks and looking forward to next season.

Lovely autumn sunshine but cold morning temperatures and sharp NE wind made for difficult fishing. No chub showed but the odd barbel towards evening.

First day of 4 on this stretch - 1 fished the wood area and 2 the bottom section. Wood produced 2 barbel, on pellet, of 6.10 and 10.12, with one lost, and approx 20 dace on the float-to a very respectable 6ozs. Difficult day on the lower section, with only one good barbel lost in a snag to show for our efforts.
Although near zero overnight temperature, bright sunshine and low water level are not great fishing conditions, how can you not enjoy being in such wonderful surroundings.

2 Barbel, 20 Other
