This has to be the most beautiful river I have ever seen. The flow was very good, and wading a bit tricky, but of the entire beat, I think I only fished 400 yds. I started downstream of the caravan park. The day was overcast, with a little wind and very light spat of drizzle. I caught fish between 12 and 16 inches beside the browns that were around 7 or 8 inches. Browns were sitting at the tails of the main flow and the Grayling at the head just after the riffle. I have never caught Grayling before so I had such a treat. Hatches happening the whole day and I fished brown, dun and tan parachutes on 6x. Most of the fish took the dry but a few on HE nymph and black emerges. This river is worth travelling 10,000km for, no question.

Similar results to last week on the same beat (I did submit a return but for some reason not posted). River very slightly tinged and just above summer level.
Most fish taken on weighted nymphs, some under an indicator to allow for change of depth, and some New Zealand Style. Later in the day fish started to pick off my Brown Elk Hair Segde with real vigour.
Average size of grayling good, around 12 inches with a few up to 17 inches. Few trout showing but managed 3, including one beautifully marked fish at 16 inches. Excellent day's sport, all returned.

Afternoon into evening fishing session - 3.00 pm -8.30 pm. Usual spot didn't produce much, so had to try several swims. Water quite stained, so hard to see weedbeds and features. CT 4 barbel to 9lb and 5 chub. LR 2 barbel and 1 chub. Unusually fishing didn't switch as it got dark.

River conditions were good, running about a constant 12" over on the gauge. Not an easy start to the day, we commenced fishing about 6:45am opposite the mouth of the Lugg and after two and a half hours we hadn't even had a tremble on the rod tops so we moved further upstream and during the rest of the day my fishing buddy caught two barbel and two bonus chub from the slower, deeper water by the hut. Meanwhile I tried various swims up and down the beat until eventually, late into the afternoon I located a good barbel holding area in some faster water running along the opposite bank. From there I caught an additional chub to complement the two I had caught from elsewhere on the beat, plus what I had really been after, six barbel.
Of the fish that we caught between the two of us, the five chub we caught weighed in at around 2.1/2 to 3.1/2 lbs each and the barbel all weighed from about 4 lbs. to just under 8 lbs. each.
This was a lovely stretch that we enjoyed fishing very much. Getting the car down to the river-side was no problem as long as you take it steady. As regards the fishing, you can access the whole of the stretch from the well maintained, east to fish bank-side.
Many thanks to WUF.......We will be back next month!..

Three fish taken on a black spider just under the surface, one on a dawl bach. River conditions fairly good probably would benefit from a bit more water if that has to be said. Had a loverly day on this very scenic beat. It is my first time out on one of your beats. I am looking forward to my next. Thanks for all your help.

The weather had changed for this day and overcast all day. The barbel again fed best towards the end of the day. No need to be there at the crack of dawn. It was good to see different year classes of barbel coming through. Lots of canoes again had a very very rude canoe guide deliberately go through our lines. As an angling guide I've seen him plenty of times before on the river and I will be having a word next time I see him. Normally he is good but don't know what happened this time. I did say that he was being very unprofessional when all the other canoes on the day caused us no problems.
Fish were caught on pellet and feeder tactics. Other than the canoe guide incident we had some great banter with the canoes.

3 x browns off upper beat, 1 very nice hen fish just over the pound caught from just below the Sewage Pool on a black pennel. Lower part of the beat fairly quiet on the day I fished.
