An excellent beat for less experienced salmon anglers to cut their teeth on. I arranged to have the assistance of the "indispensable" Mick the beat gillie for the morning and he saved me fishing large areas of the beat which tend to not hold fish. We started between the Corner Stone and the Maddox and Mick was flicking my line out for me when he was into a salmon before getting the whole shooting head out of the rings, sadly he passed the rod to me and despite good pressure being maintained he thought the fish was poorly hooked and it threw the fly. I fished hard until about 5pm but no more takes despite many coloured fish jumping and one bar of silver in The Stones. This is my second day on the Wye and Goodrich Court was well described in the directions and access to the pools was also easy compared to Lower Hill Court where I failed to determine the Upper limit and wasted a lot of fishing time returning down stream and finding access points. Thanks very much to Mick, well worth booking again.

River levels back down and clear again but the chub still fed well throughout the day with the majority of the barbel coming in the evening. Fish caught on float and feeder on the usual variety of baits. Great days fishing.

River higher than I would like and the water was very warm. Plenty of salmon showing, but nothing more than play. fished 06.00 to 11.30 when the canoes became too frequent.

A very poor day..fished from 10am til 8pm in 3 different swims not one single bite registered! Did not see any barbel activity all day. The only positive was the stunning scenery.

Thought the river would be higher after a night of decent rain but that's not how it turned out. Incredibly hard fishing with only one fish lured out of a crevice with a heavy nymph.

Taf Fechan above Clun Bridge. Very wet evening 1730-2000, river slightly coloured. Fish rising. All fish taken on Grey Polydun dry (16). 2 x 7", 10" BT all returned.
Beautiful stretch of river that has benefitted from the log groynes. Many thanks to MAA.

Started off in the bottom pool at around 10:30 and had a chub on trotted pellet and a micro barbel on rolling meat. Tried all the other swims on the same tactics but no fish. Settled into the bottom pool and put some pellet feeders out around lunchtime which gave a steady stream of small to micro barbel for the afternoon, with only one bigger than 2lbs (est. 4lbs) and fish often taking it on the drop. Frequent canoes until about 3pm but the barbel happily fed underneath them and they didn't cause us a problem. River was 18 inches lower than usual according to the bailiff (very friendly and helpful chap) so he advised we stay in the bottom pool. Left at about 19.30 before the bigger fish came on the feed but oh well...

15 Barbel, 1 Chub
