I pretty much picked up where I left off a week ago. An afternoon and evening presenting an Adams, sometimes to a rising fish, at others into likely looking spots. I’ve no idea what the fish were feeding on but the Adams certainly worked. Ten fish to hand (5"-11") and many more lost or missed. Once again this magic little beat produced terrific sport. The river was low and clear making stalking all the more challenging with those little ‘sentry’ trout scooting up a pool to alert their larger brethren.

Got to the river first thing and had two chub first two casts. Then the sun came out and bites tailed off, became very hot and difficult but managed a small barbel at midday then another chub and a barbel weighing roughly 6lb about 6 o'clock plus an eel. Lovely beat.

Despite the near perfect conditions we only caught 2 small trout. Very few fish showing which was a shame after the reports of the last few days. Stayed late but no rise, great location wading was good under the bridge and on
The camp site bank, will definitely return to try to catch the evening rise. Thanks to fishery owner Barry who phone us to give instruction on the beat.

A few fish showing but bright conditions made it tricky. 1 Brownie of around 1lb caught on a dry fly. Otter seen at the top of the beat.

1 carp approx 14lbs and an unexpected small chub on floating biscuit, plus another good carp lost. Should have had a few more. For those of a nervous disposition there are cattle with calves in the field alongside the lake, including an enormous bull.
