10 lbs spinning. River still a little on the high side but should become perfect for the lowest beats over the next few days.

Sea liced fish of 11 lbs taken on an orange feeler tube fly.

Fished afternoon and evening. Nothing much happening on arrival so started with an upstream nymph with the result of 2 grayling so went in search of rising fish. These did start to sporadically appear as the afternoon went on. Once carefully approached most were willing to take a dry though some insisted on a change before doing so. Mixture of Parachute Adams,Olive CDC Grey Wulff and Mayfly. Ended up with 5 trout 6-12" with the smallest falling to the largest May in the box! Cool evening and the action ceased at about 9.

Well, looking at the other anglers catch reports for this river I'm feeling a bit inadequate with my measly return of two fish. Never the less, it's a beautiful little stream this one and I'm sure that there are plenty of trout just waiting to be caught, they just weren't very obliging on this outing. It was a very cold start to the day and with a cold strong wind blowing down river it was never going to be easy. Very little sign of fish moving and very little in the way of insect life either - just the very occasional mayfly hatched out, all of which probably wished they hadn't bothered. I did see a beautiful yellow may dun later in the afternoon.

Had a nice day lovely place but lack of fish. No fish caught only seen about 5 all over the beat and very small.

Beautiful beat with a lovely mix of features. Cool and breezy conditions with surprisingly good hatches for most of the day including a healthy number of mayfly, but not many fish rising. Some evidence of otter presence so maybe the ace fishermen beat me to the catch.
Took one of the top with an emerger pattern about half way down the beat and one on a heavy nymph in the pool above the bottom weir, both about 10 inches.

2 small about half pound caught and released on sinking line with wet flies near the bottom of the river. River in good condition and lovely surroundings.

I was taught a lesson here last time, decided the beat didn't warrant a net, you can be so wrong sometimes! No need today though, just a couple and several missed, again! An enjoyable few hours.
