Very low water level. Started fishing early morning and didn't see any trout activity, possible because it was cold and raining. Caught the first trout (1.5lb) around 1pm using a brown parachute dry fly. Fish had average activity all afternoon resulting in one more trout (1lb) and lost 2 more fish. So it was good day. What is bad fishing on river Taff at Merthyr Tydfil, close to the Aberfan play area wad the rubbish. Rubbish is everywhere, plastic bottles, bags some industrial waste, why are fishermen paying the money if the Association are not doing anything? I very love small rivers and streams, love nature and hope that others people love it as well and will clean personal rubbish after theirselves. My tackle rod: 7'6, DT floating line, dry flies. Thank you.

Began fishing around noon with a cold wind blowing upstream. River still low and few fish showing despite sporadic hatches during the afternoon but managed 6 between us on emergers and nymphs in the faster water.

What a lovely morning fishing. Beautiful place, lots of deep pools to fish, one of which produced a lovely brownie of about a pound and a half! A few other takes and chases. Thanks very much will be back soon!

Difficult in the morning, strong wind from the East, however, stuck at it and landed 3 Rainbows on spinner, up to 2lbs.

A cold start (8 degrees at 10am) and a strong breeze meant a slow and tricky beginning with just one WBT in the morning, on a gold head PTN fished below a Klinkhammer. Things livened up in the afternoon with 3 good fish on the dry (Para Adams) following a big hatch of Large Brook Duns at 2.30 ish making things very lively for half an hour. All in all despite the chilliness, low water (rain please!) and the breeze an excellent day.

Cold easterly wind, but at least upstream. Two small trout lost to a subsurface GRHE pattern around midday (moral, always check after snagging that your hook hasn't straightened!). Subsequently different patterns, different depths, but nothing, and no rising fish.

The river was quite low and the weather was cloudy with occasional sun and slightly colder than it has been. Arrived around lunch time and almost immediately hooked a small fish on a weighted nymph which I lost at the net. There were small sporadic hatches and some surface activity. Managed to catch one trout on a dry which was very rewarding. A better angler than we would, I suspect have caught much more. The final massive tangle of the day prompted my exit at around 6pm. Great value. (I've recorded 2 trout but that latter one looked suspiciously silvery with very few spots. a quick Google back at home suggested a smolt?)
