Another beautiful day to be by the river. Unfortunately, although warm, the insects did not seem to want to come out and play and consequently the fish were happy to stay mainly out of sight.
Very few rising fish seen. Those that did rise were shown a fly but only two fish, both under 1lb, succumbed. Successful flies were size 16 para adams and size 12 black klink.

Area:Lower Wye
Beat:Goodrich Court
Fishing:Salmon
River in perfect condition and lovely warm weather. Darren White caught his first ever salmon at nine pounds followed shortly after by another at nine pounds again form the same spot caught by Wayne Little. A wonderful day helped greatly by Mick as gillie who is very helpful and knowledgeable as well as good company. I hope he has recovered from the evening afterwards! Both fish caught on flying C's.

My first visit to this beat and my first grayling, 16inches of beautiful fish quickly followed by a second of 15 inches. Both to a ghptn. Two trout one of 9 inches and the second of 11 inches both to a gold headed bug and finally a smaller grayling of 11 inches again to a ghptn. I only managed the bottom half up to the bridge and then stopped as the leak in chest waders was making my right foot very cold and uncomfortable. I will return!

Fished this beat from 11 til 3.30 in bright hot sun but with a pleasant but annoying downstream breeze making casting light line a bit tricky. Started at the all weather parking spot and fished a small PTN as surprisingly not much fly life and nothing rising. Got into my first fish almost straight away and managed another two before heading back to the van, not quite making it to the very top of the beat. I got the distinct impression I was leaving just as I should of been starting but by the time I'd trudged all the way back I was parched. More like the middle of June than April.

First visit to an interesting and contrasting beat below and above Chainbridge, plus tempting Inn on the river. Wind direction ensured I had more tangles than usual and seemed to limited surface activity despite warm bright day and sporadic hatches. My Lunns Particular persuaded several wbt to surface but I missed the bigger ones and had to settle for lesser specimens promptly returned. Didn't manage to cover the whole beat so I shall look forward to returning to the convenient parking space beside the bridge to complete the task.

Beautiful day and a pleasure to be on the bank. However, I'm not sure how good it was for insect hatches. Very few fish seen rising and those that did were once'ers. Tried many types of runs with dries and nymphs - no joy.

What a great place! Drive lined with daffs, easy parking noisy crows nesting, warm April sun, water low clear. Saw no rising fish. Great place. No fish will try again.

Rather a slow bright day with a feeling of high summer. An 8 and a 9inch trout on a small pheasant tail nymph. Larger fish easily spooked in the clear water.
