Lovely beat, good access, pump on briefly but didn't cause us any issues. Rang office about closed road to farm and the matter was dealt with quickly and professionally. Watched the buzzards and saw plenty of salmon jumping which was a pleasure. River very low and clear despite 3 nights of rain. All fish taken at dusk on pellet/boilies. Far bank was fairly busy with anglers. We will return.

Good to see some much needed water in the river, and had a productive morning with lots of Grayling in the 8-10 class. The lower section fished better, where at times it was a fish a cast. However, after lunch things slowed right down with fewer fish taken. With all the rain we have had since then, I wish the Salmon Rods luck for a late season prize.

Very strong coloured cock fish, 15lb, netted at 16:05 on no.3 beat at Whitney Court on a size 10 double Monro Killer. He had the line and 90 per cent of my backing out on three runs which was a little stressful.

First overnight frost and the barbel were quiet. The usual spot was throwing up a few to one chap. The chub were very obliging with two going over 5lbs. Feeder and ellips. Very well looked after stretch with strimmed paths and swims, having fished at Caradoc the day before it was nice to have most of the beat accesible.

A great day for the 'chuck and sit down boys' - yes the worm boys had the results. For the fly angler no such luck, fish were not interested in chasing lures. Am I bitter towards the worm lads? No, for I enjoyed the location and the challenge.

Description said some good winter piking spots? I could walk across 95% of the river! Waste of £24.
WUF Note: The extremely dry weather of the summer and early autumn has lead to some extremely low water levels. We ask that you take conditions into account when reading beat descriptions. Middle Ballingham has some good winter pike spots in normal winter conditions.
