First visit to this section-used as a warm up for 4 days on Courtfield. Despite the very low level of the river and sunny weather we caught 4 barbel, 2 chub and several dace on a mixture of ledger and float tactics. A satisfactory start to our trip in a lovely location.

Fished this beat for the first time today using my Wild Stream Annual permit. Interesting morning with a woefully low river! I had 3 Grayling and my 13 yr old lad had his first double hookup with 2 x 10" fish on at once, his face was a picture. Also caught some monster minnows! Home in time for dinner and afternoon snooze! Lol (must be getting old).

Last day of fishing for me this season on the Edw. I have fished Aberedw several times. Hergest is very similar although I would say a little more open. I did not get into any fish until late morning, so a worrying first couple of hours with difficult and frustrating fishing in pools with low and clear water. It was only about half way up the beat when the pools had a stronger flow with a clear food line that I started to catch. Half the fish were above 10" with one fish at 14". This is a great beat and very remote. There were a couple of very large trees down and I noted a very significant land slip too - I will be back on the Edw next year for sure although it might have some different features!
Thanks WUF for a what has been a fantastic year for me on your passport.

River level was pretty low, and combined with warm sunshine most of the day, made the hopes of a barbel or two very slim. With the water levels being low we chose to fish the deeper and faster flowing areas in order to try and locate the fish. This only resulted in 2 chub, with no barbel seen.

Wonderful day on the water. A still beautiful autumn day reaching 21 degrees C at 1pm. Exceptionally low water, but a good hatch of upwinged mayflies and other small chironomids. Grayling rising all day. 30 grayling and 10 trout caught between us including three 2lb grayling and a 1.5lb brown trout. Kingfishers, autumn leaves and a pleasure to be alive in the autumn!

Great day on the Edw. Good LDO hatch most of the session which seemed to have switched the fish on. 14 wbt to 10" (most 5"-7"). All on an Adams or CDC Emerger. Lost as many due to barbless hooks and fish taking to the skies rather than diving deep in the absence of normal water levels.
Surprisingly open beat given the angler is under canopy for the most part. Just fished the lower section for 4 hours. Combined with the top section this beat offers a full day's fishing, sensible parking, easy wading and plenty of wbt. And all for a tenner!
