Gosh the river is low! Down to 2 -3 metre wide gutters in places. Fishing typically Irfon - challenging but productive. All fish on dries - grayling of 2 year classes, lovely plump 14 inch fish x 3 and skinnier 9-10 inch fish x 4. One of the latter had significant beak scarring. Brownies brought to hand nothing bigger than 9" but the best fish of the day - a 15 - 16" brownie didn't come to hand after being played for 3 mins so can't count him! Close encounter of the otter kind - a family threesome swam past under the rod tip of one rod - and also avian predators plentiful.

River conditions low and morning bright sunshine. Baited various swims close to our bank with hemp and pellet and moved around without locating any fish. Fished late afternoon until dark with feeders in the deepest water we could find but did not have a bite all day. There were at least 6 anglers on the opposite bank and we only saw 1 barbel caught and one lost.

A great day trotting a large thick speci waggler with carp pellets and meat cubes. 20 chub from 2 to 4lb caught wading in just above the white water at the bottom of the beat. Fish came steadily throughout the day but fed more aggressively when there was cloud cover. Plenty of smaller chub and Dace graced the net and then at last knocking whiskers put in an appearance to end a terrific day. Approximately 7lb of hard fighting perfectly conditioned Wye Barbel.

This is a nice piece of river with easy access to alot of it. Walking is easy also. Usual methods to catch barbel once we found them, shame the bailiff never returned my call to him but all in all I would return here even though the river is very low. There's still an awful lot of water to go at.

Unfortunately nature got the upper hand today. It was very windy and rained all afternoon. The water was very low, especially on the lower section of the beat. This section was also extrememly difficult to wade, studded boots and a wading stick are an absolute must have. The top section has some amazing dry fly flats, but the cold weather did not allow for any hatches.
One highlight, was the visit of a rather big Otter, which I am sure scared away all the fish. A very peaceful surrounding and I can only image must be a fantastic days sport in the right conditions.

Having fished this stretch on the Tuesday we were not to keen to go back on the Thursday. Conditions very much the same with low clear water and little flow, just one bite and one Barbel of 8lb 8oz to show for a very hard days fishing.
