Lovely stretch of water but very low compared to what I imagine it gets to. One brown trout but the fishing was very difficult. The weather very warm with not much flow from the area you park the car to the bottom pool. However, there were numerous large fish seen in shoals around 10am but I was unable to get down to the water without spooking them. Definitely will return on another day. A canoe was seen - I didn't think they were allowed when the water was low?
WUF Note: At current water heights the canoeist was in breach of the access arrangements. If you come across this please inform the canoeist of the situation (without endangering yourself) and report it to the Foundation, including details of the organisation if it is an identifiable group.

Fished 10.00am to 7.00pm. River low and clear. Tried end swim by willow on road side for 3 hours without a sniff to either bread, corn, meat or pellet. Then tried the far side and despite seeing chub and small barbel couldn't persuade them into accepting a bait.
Returned to first cut-out swim, half way along, on road side at about 3.00pm and had the first chub of about 1lb on meat by 3.30pm. Things picked up from there with constant loose feeding of meat (madras or paprika), pellet and sweetcorn. By the time I left, they were queuing up, finished with 10 chub, 8 over 3lb, largest 3-12, and a bonus barbel of 5-10.
All fell to (barely) rolled meat on a 2 swan link ledger in mid river. Didn't lose any tackle, or fish, in snags.
Not many swims on the beat, could do with another 1-2 foot of water, but when you find the fish....

Access to water is good in places with a number of different types of swim to try. Although water was fairly low, after a few hours fishing and moving swims a number of times we managed to locate where some fish were in the pacier water. The hill as described by some isn't as big as feared and opens out in to the lower end of the beat which looks a nice stretch to investigate properly another time. A beat with potential and no real issues from anglers on the other side, though it would be nice to have this information available on the website so people know what to expect prior to booking.

No fish active at all really must have been 3 showing all day. Was told by the wardens that the reservoir has not been stocked in the previous 2 weeks due to delivery problems. So bad fishing, yet there was around 30-40 anglers. Never seen a place so alive other than a competition. All caught on spinners, hard fighting fish. Smallest was 1lb, biggest being 41/2lb. Great looking over wintered fish full fins. Will visit again. Great to see almost no litter, really pleasant day. Day overcast with strong sun rays, we were the only people spinning and I think we had the most, even though we didn't get our 12 fish limit will still be going again. Lost about half a dozen but that's fishing. Bailiffs were great told us key areas and methods to use. Tight lines.

This was the first of two days booked on what turned out to be a great weekend for two of the party. I started in the woods but had nothing so moved up to the waterworks swim mid morning. I had to work hard but by the time it got dark I had managed six barbel to 9 lbs 3 ozs and a 4 lbs chub. My good friend fished all day in the woods and had a fabulous day, bagging nine barbel to 10 lbs 9 ozs. His first Wye double. Unfortunately the other two blanked but to be fair spent most of the day away from the river visiting a friend. The beer and curry tasted good that evening!

Not sure if this is the right beat - can not marry up with the passport river w6 Aberwtran. Instructions to the lane were good but when you got to the farm instructions and map not good enough. The gates were tied up with string and there was no obvious path but found the route eventually, The river was very good, scenery was spectacular. I stopped bed and breakfast at Bryncelyn, an excellent place. The owner could not do enough for you and I would stop again.
