Didn't have a great day with canoeists and I found the fishing very hard with the amount of snags and rocks. Lost loads of feeders and hooks. The only swim that was fishable was the bottom pool which my son fished and had 1 chub. It looks a great beat but I must admit I found it difficult to fish and expensive. Any angler who catches on the other swims has my full admiration.

The river had been up in the previous few days, refreshing things in time for out day at Holme Lacy. The chub were in feeding mood but barbel were harder to come by and we ended with 6 whiskers to 7lb 10oz and 11 chub, all on pellet. Some of the barbel showed signs of being damaged by barbed hooks which is a great shame.

A delightful stretch of water which I selected in the hope my dad would catch his first barbel but the fishing was slow with only a couple of chub falling for meat that had to be bounced in the flow (they weren't interested in the static bait). 2 barbel came out at the top of the beat early evening around the 8lb mark. A great venue that I know produces quality catches on its day.
2 Barbel, 2 Chub
