Had another great day on this beat. Morning was very difficult however, a move early afternoon found the barbel. One of 9lbs plus and a good few around the 7lbs mark. Seems like the barbel are feeding later in the afternoon/evening.
River very low and clear. All the rain had little effect on the height.

Gale force winds and torrential rain tried there best to mar a wonderful place. Almost impossible to stand up let alone cast a fly at times due to the winds.
Had a few snatches at a black gnat dry fly but nothing till I managed a lovely, perfectly formed brownie at last knockings. Will return and hope for better weather.
Walk was fine but as 5 cars passed me on the track down and parked by the nature reserve lake it did make me wish I had taken my car down the track as it was fine if you were careful a 4x4 will easily make it all the way to the lake itself.

2 rods, I fished at the very end of the beat, 1/3 to 1/2 way out. Cage feeder with halibut pellets, meat or pellet hair rigged. Caught barbel early before 9.00am. Chub and barbel late morning, nothing after 3.00pm. The other rod caught nothing all day even by moving from start of beat to close to the end.
Barbel to 5 1/2 lbs, chub just over 4lbs. Nice to see a few smaller barbel from a 1lb upto 3lb. River seemed to be perfect for a good days fishing and the weather was also very good (overcast, mild and slight drizzle) but no larger fish were caught and the beat seemed to be only fishing well at he far end. The pathway is easy to get along, but the bank became very slippy with the rain. Be careful at the end of the beat. A safe place to fish and very relaxing.

We went late in the day and only fished for about 3 hours. We didn't catch any fish, lost one as it jumped and dislodged the spinner. Very enjoyable though just to teach my 11 year old daughter to spin....

Small Chub caught (and released) on a dry fly. Overcast weather and fairly high water conditions, there seemed to be very little insect activity and fishing was slow with only a few takes of small trout. Water level seemed high, but it's my first time fishing the Wye so it's difficult for me to be accurate.
I noticed that someone had inadvertently left the gate open to left bank access beats 3,4,5. It maybe worth considering posting a reminder on the gate itself.
It was my first time using the Foundation's service. I found it to be excellent, both the on- line service and the information provided by phone.
Best regards

First time on this stretch and not disappointed, very well maintained and Collin the Ghillie is one the nicest people you could meet. In two days me and my mate caught 2 barbel and 47 chub between us, my mate trotting took most of the Chub. The river looked good but with all our best efforts could only manage the 2 barbel. We will return next year as we really enjoyed the two days. Stayed at the Brandon Lodge, also very impressed, clean rooms, beds are great and breakfast is very good. Staff friendly and helpful. Thanks WUF for a great couple of great days.

Had a great day again guiding a client. After a very tough morning however, a move to another area saw 7 barbel with one at 10lbs 11oz. All caught on pellet. Surprised on how low the river was after recent rain.
A great day completed by a new pb chub of 5lbs 8oz for my client. A super beat with loads of potential.
