Arrived at the beat at midday to find water a bit coloured but level & flow good. Whilst tackling up I noticed that across from the car park, fish were regularly rising so took that as a good sign to fish dry and tied on trusty Adams. The rest of the day saw fish rising steadily to a variety of flies with fish taken from several ideal dry fly stretches. One run in particular delivered several fish, one after the other. I felt rather like Skues's Mr Castwell who ended up in heaven and was condemned by St Peter to fish for ever the same spot whilst fish were still rising there.
Great day, lovely spot, 15 trout to a good pound and a quarter......pretty much like heaven I imagine!

The river conditions looked perfect but we Struggled to find fish with only 3 barbel caught between 6lb to 7lb 4oz, all were caught on pellet. This stretch of the Wye is in a nice setting but is snaggy & as for the walk we would say it is 1/2 mile to the river bank then another 1/2 mile to any descent barbel swims so travel light!!!
PS - Hopefully the WUF can do something better for the access to this nice stretch of water?

Fished from 9am-2pm. Caught two chub and one roach between two anglers. We had been in the area for three days and found the fishing harder than usual. We stayed at Tresseck campsite in Hoarwithy and found it to be very well run and good value.

Lovely beat. Sadly no Salmon seen or caught. Slightly bewlidered why you don't seem to see Salmon showing on the Wye or Usk, I haven't seen a single one this season. Sat and watched the falls for a bit but nothing showed. Still, lovely day with over 35 Trout and around 5 Grayling caught when I gave up on the Salmon!

Fishing:Trout (River)

10 x trout 6-11 inches, 1 x grayling 10 inches. Virtually nothing rising, although some modest trout were prepared to come up to play when invited, mainly with an Orange Otter. Not so the grayling this morning: just one small one taken with a nymph on the bottom.

A lovely day without yesterday's harsh downstream wind. River at 0.6m on the Cilmery guage. Some upwings, but little fly to get fish going and so, few rises. We both fished duo for most of the day then, given the success of the floating duo flies, went just to dry for a while, tried bugging (to no avail in DC's case) and latterly spiders in GW's (with some success). Had about 35 fish between us on the day, about fifteen of which were grayling and the rest trout from small to 14". A few grayling of 10" but most over 12" and several of 14-16", up to around 1.5lb. Fish taken on nymphs and on either Elk Hair Caddis or Grayling Steel Blue. Others were missed or came off and, of course, there was "the one that got away" - a big smash-take by a large trout which disappeared with the EHC! All in all, a lovely day's fishing on a beautiful beat.
