River was running high and slightly brown. Had a couple of tugs on sunken flies but could not entice a fish to rise to a dry fly. Stayed until 9.30 pm in the hope of a significant hatch without any luck.

Arrived on the water at 16.00 for the evening rise, again it was very good. 3 wbt until 18.30 then it went mad after that until 21.45. Finished with 14 wbt biggest at 16ins, most at 10-12 inches all on a alight tan sedge. Most fantastic evenings sport with most fish coming from abve the bridge. STEPHEN YOU MUST STOP THE RAIN DANCE NOW !

River running quite hard but perfect weatherwise. Stayed to late evening although fish were caught throughout the day. One angler had 12 barbel to about 9lbs and one chub, the other had three barbel to 8lbs and one chub both fishing downstream of the approach path - mainly on pellet but with several on meat. Some bites were tentative, others whey hey! Don't be afraid to fish close in to the bank. Current such that we had to. Parking only for one car on the LHS 30yds beyond the gate entrance to the field as recent flash floods have eroded the entrance to it and the ground is very soft.

I started fishing around 11am approximately 150 upstream from the bridge. The entire beat has limited river access due to fairly steep banks and trees. Despite nearly 36 hours of dry weather, they river was still fairly colored. I primarily fished a large adams or stimulator with a suspended hare's ear or light colored emerger. I did however try a various combinations of lower water column nymphs as well as streamers. I only landed one 8 inch Brown trout, and very few missed strikes. I noticed some nice mayfly and BWO hatches throughout the day but only saw one fish (10-12 inch) rise near the top of the beat. I suspect that with a little clearer water and lower flows this could be a pretty productive stretch of river.

Anyway, despite my poor results after 7 hours of fishing...ANY DAY ON THE RIVER BEATS A DAY AT WORK!

My wife and I stayed at the Old Storehouse, 2.5 miles South of Brecon. The place is very homely and Peter takes top notch care of his guests. We hope to return soon.
