5 trouts - nymph fishing

1 x 1lb brown trout caught and taken. Sedge. A number of rises but fish generally not taking a surface fly.

First fine warm day after bitter cold .High expectations,yet virtually no fly hatching and hardly a rise seen all day.Just one trout of about 3/4 lb on klinkhammer.

5 trout up to 9inch dry fly,not sure exact fly type but klinkhammer I think, a few fish rising,lovely spot and nice beat to fish.

Water 0.77m and waded with difficulty. Fished top run, rock pool and woodstream with no result for salmon. weather warm and went through same with trout rod. landed 5 to 1lb 2 oz on partridge and orange spiders and one on white wulff 12 at 1lb. Fished the hut side with same spiders and landed 2lb 2oz fish at 5:45 pm.
John had a large salmon on below bridge, so went to assist. Fish showed several times and was upper teens lbs in size. Tore off down pool and broke 15lb leader. Disappointing.
John landed 2 nice trout at the tail end above wood stream late on to 1 lb

16lb from beat 3 on a fly.

Warm, pleasant sunshine! Yes, its been a while! Started at tail end of top run. Few fish rising, and caught several trout 10-11ins.on a small adams and also small nymph. Finns Hole looked promising, but fish reluctant. Caught a couple more in the evening, on a parachute black gnat; however, the trout would only take the fly when it started to skate, re-writing the rule book slightly. 7 fish for the day-best fish 1.5lbs - all returned. We metup with a syndicate member - Chris Riddell - delightful chap full of interesting information, and later with Harry Legge Bourke, on fishery duties; so no risk of feeling lonely! Very enjoyable day. Goosander and chicks spotted.

7 WBT caught between two rods on a variety of klinkhammers, parachutes, CDCs and sedges, all on lower stretch of river. Few fish evident on upper stretch. Evening rise was exciting but unable to hook several fish.

Lovely beat. 6 Trout best 14", 1 oos Grayling 14" . All on size 16 adams and all returned.
