Very cold again. My waders were in the car overnight and still had ice on them when I struggled into them at 1.00pm. It was probably nature's way of telling me it was too damned cold.
It was. Nothing seen nor caught.

Covering the water for several hours, moved no fish and neither did the trickle of olives that started coming off around 2pm. It's been a very slow week...

We didn't catch anything however we were couple of very beginner anglers. It was windy and didn't have waders, so we could only fly fish a small section of Llanfechan. We saw a few 12 to 16 inch trout and grayling through the clear waters. Very scenic part of the world and would totally recommend trying your luck here.

Sadly the weather was so poor (snow and cold!) that I 'flaked out' I'm afraid, so no catches and not even a wet fly!

Managed a couple of hours, an exercise of hope over experience given the conditions. Nothing caught or seen, and no fly life to report. Pretty beat, will return when the weather perks up.

The sun came out on Easter Sunday and I had a good day on the river - but no fish. I should say that I didn't spend the whole day fishing, just a couple of hours after lunch - choosing to picnic on the river bank with my wife and son in the 'spring' sun. The river had clearly flooded in recent months and the high water marks were very high. Not an easy river to fish - lots of trees impeding your cast in all the best trout holding spots. Practice your roll cast.

Bitterly cold day with a nasty gusty wind. Fished for about three hours in the morning with no luck at all. Mostly used weighted nymphs but absolutely no sign of fish. Afternoon looked no better with the temperature creeping up to about 4 degrees . But there was a sudden and completely unexpected flurry of activity around 3.00. No one had told the grayling they were out of season and no fewer than 11 threw themselves at my nymphs in the space of a about forty minutes, including two on the same cast. But only one small trout who played by the rules. Mind you, the weather certainly felt like the grayling should be in season for a month or two yet!
We are staying at a very nice place just outside Erwood called The Old Barn Lodge. Very reasonable and a terrific location for a week's fishing. Just need the weather to play its part now. Dream on. ..

Snow capped mountains, frozen margins and 2 bag limits! Great idea to book online, saves trying to find all those pound coins for the ticket machine!

Joined by Oliver Burch on a very cold day with temperatures rising to a lofty 5 degrees centigrade, but thankfully dry with high cloud. Snow can still be seen on the high hills.
Fished upstream of the bridge in the morning. Slow start as expected when an adventurous small trout had a go at a sparkle dunn, freed itself and fled. Some time later after a small LDO rise managed to hang on to a nice 13 inch brownie which was tempted by a Partridge and Orange. Had a go at the Little Stream after lunch, again noticed a small LDO rise and this time hooked on to a 15 incher which fell to a Waterhen Bloa.
All in all a great day despite the cold
