Blank, no fish seen or felt. River very high but clear, not a wash out.

A beautiful autumnal day and perfect conditions for salmon, with high water and plenty of hiding places. Only problem was there wasn't a fish of any kind in evidence. It was totally dead. I caught a poacher too, a young fellow with his girlfriend. Hardly seems to matter though as there were no fish.

1 x grilse (about 4/5lbs) on lower flats. Caught on flying c.
Water height was perfect and slightly coloured.

Cold start to a sunny but windy day. Good directions etc to the beat, easy access to the water. Started at the lower limit and had a fish each around 13" in the first half hour, both on beaded nymph - immaculately conditioned. We made our way upstream but struggled to fish in the chosen way due to the strong downstream wind. Upstream of the parking another couple of fish were caught from the fast water. After lunch we made our way upstream of the road bridge hopeful for some peace and quiet if anything else, and we found a nice run out of the wind with a few fish rising. Here 9 fish were caught to approx 15" (2 taken), lovely fishing and made the 2nd rod very happy. Although out of the wind, there was the invasive hustle and bustle of lawnmowers, distant music, sporadic shouting, and vehicles that belong on a race track consistently whipping up and down the A40. Productive penultimate day of the trout season totalling 13 fish, very enjoyable with DZ, but the noise (especially the A40) stripped it of the romance expected when trout fishing the Usk.

Nice height, water & colour looked perfect! Nil catch no salmon seen.

3lb chub caught on ledgered halibut pellet but no show for the barbel. Hooked a large fish but it became a story of the one that got away! Access to the river was easy and levels were up a couple of feet. We moved several times to try to locate the barbel but to no avail.

No fish caught or seen. River at a good height & had cleared quickly. Thanks for your help with the late bookings Allyson.

Water fished well today but no salmon moved. Fun with trout to 1 1/2 lbs. on the dry flies between times. Wonderful hostess (Tiggy) who plied us with tea, chocolate cake & large chunks of local knowledge & experience on the river bank. We would all go back for more of everything! Thanks once again Allyson for the help with late bookings.

Hard Hard Hard - water well up and as such left hand bank pretty much unfishable and river roaring through. Fished other side 50 yards from bridge for 4 hours, not even a knock. Bet a good stretch with reasonable levels though.
