Weather was much improved over that of the previous week and the river was running much clearer.
The Mayfly started hatching in ernest at about 4pm.
Total catch 8 fish, best 1.5lb! A great afternoon on a beautiful little river.

7 x trout 6-11 inches, mainly on mayfly patterns - Monnow Gosling. A slow start, but they started rising to mayfly mid-afternoon. I had forgotten how fond I was of this pretty little stream, although I think we are going to have to trim a rather overgrown top end to this beat.

Three WBT, one to a weighted pheasant tail nymph and the other two to emergers. Lots of fish and insect life including plenty of Mayflies, which the fish appeared to be ignoring completely. I lost count of the number of fish that either rose to refuse a fly or that I missed. I lost a box of dry flies somewhere on the beat and wasted quite a lot of time searching for them to no avail. If they are handed in I would be very grateful.
