Decided to take a chance on the river being fishable following the recent heavy rain. On arrival the river was carrying a lot of water and a bit coloured. Gave it a go and headed to the bottom of the beat. Nymphs were the order of the day and 4 hours later I packed up having caught 10 fish (ten more than I expected to catch given the conditions!) 2 Browns and 8 grayling. One was a fish of 46cm followed by two at 44cm the rest a mix of sizes. Headed home to a roast chicken dinner with a bit of a smile on my face having enjoyed a nice mornings fishing,
all fish were returned safely.

Lovely day with the river only about a foot above normal and slightly coloured. River temp 10 deg C same as the air temp as I started. This is a cracking beat but the fish were difficult to find. In the end managed 3 grayling all about 12 " and one oos trout about same size. Fished Czech nymph hard all day and lost quite a few heavy point flies on the bottom. Nevertheless enjoyed the day.
Saw several dragonflies (in November!) and some pesky comorants which I shall put on the cormorant watch website.

I took the advice from Mr.Fisher and fished the Rope Pool. The river was tanking through, and the colour of soup, but the steps swim offered a nice cast to the edge of the flow. I caught 4 barbel, biggest 6lb 2oz.

Healthier water levels at last for the Arrow but still running coloured on Sunday. However it was a beautiful sunny warm day so I fished for a few hours in the afternoon with nymphs taking two out of season small WBT. I couldn't find a Grayling in the deeper water but eventually caught a tiddler experimenting with spiders in shallow fast water. Despite my failings the beat looks very promising and should be perfect when the water clears this week (I also note someone did much better than me yesterday upstream at the Court of Noke).

First time to fish the Wye and on arrival flow was very strong, the area must have had heavy rain and so found it difficult to fish. Lots of debris, even a tree at 1 point, great looking river and scenery though. Unfortunately no fish, going to come back on a colder day with hopefully less flow

As expected arrived to find the river well up and coloured managed to find a slack section out of the main pull and debris, feeding and fishing h/pellet really tight under the near bank. I went on to take 6 chub & 3 barbel, all in superb condition. Thanks yet again to all at w&u.
