12 x trout 9-18 inches. First time for me on an interesting and unusual beat. You reach the river down cottage garden steps and find yourself on some hundreds of yards of concrete and timber walkway built immediately over salmon lies, mainly deep and fast-flowing water water. Feeding trout come up into some of this water; if you take one you have to kneel and reach down to net it. Be a little wary, because the river has been eating away at this structure over the years and some of the lower section is in bad repair. I had a clumsy fall when a piece of concrete moved under me and strained my wrist trying to save myself. Much of the big pool below can be waded, but it's also worth mentioning a need to watch out for barbed wire in the bank. This looked to be a good day, with lots of water coming down. Another rod and I had an interesting time puzzling out a slow-burning grannom hatch after lunch: 10-12 inch trout were quite keen to take spiders. That was ended by an intense shower of rain about 4 o'clock, but I'm glad I went back to the river afterwards as fish began to move again. Last cast of the day produced a "proper" wild Usk trout, a fat hen fish of 18 inches which took a Hare's Lug and Plover spider. A very enjoyable day, although the casting wrist is still aching!

Nine trout and one grayling, best at 12". Stunningly lovely fish all of them. Good but short-lived hatch of olives at 2:30pm gave excellent sport on the dry. The brook is not far away from bursting into life!

Fine sunny clear morning with mirror surface water but no fish. Cloud increased late morning and a light breeze produced a ripple. Two rainbows of 1.5 to 2 lb on Cats Whisker then 3 rainbows of same size spinning with rappala. An adjacent fisherman caught a fine 5lb rainbow. A relaxing day in good weather and fine views of the Carmarthen Vans.

3 x 1lb trout...caught and released. 1 x grayling...caught and released. All caught on small Klinkhammers and Olives. One human nearly killed by heart failure when Inlet/Outlet pipe triggered as clearance procedure whilst rod holder nearby. This happens every twenty minutes and might be worth noting for the unsuspecting. It can also lead to the short sighted claiming a 'rise' in the middle of the current... although I am not sure any rod would deal with the kind of beast that this would represent.
The workmen upgrading the waterworks are currently throwing a lot of food into the river to encourage the fish.. this appears to be helping somewhat as there was plenty of activity.
