Arrived at 5pm and a few rises around the upper bridge pool. Stayed until 7pm and had to depart.
A stunning beat with lots of options.
Tried olive emerger, Perdigon nymph and nothing happening for me. I will return. Highly recommended.

Very similar story to return submitted about a fortnight ago. Low, fairly clear and slack water, with some sunny intervals throughout day. Bit more breezy. Line and feeder in water by 7am. Knocks and one missed wrap in first two hours, but nothing banked. Trotted corn for an hour about 10, two Dace caught. Back on feeders and ledgered pellet in afternoon, one small Chub (2lb), brought in.
First Barbel (6lb) around 3pm, and then things picked up considerably. Couple of decent Chub (great fighting 4lb fish in superb condition) and then a lovely 8lb Barbel, that fought like a tiger. Two decent fish lost through line breaks.
If ledgering, be prepared to lose gear. When you find a clear bed, stick to it! Roving about and experimenting can be costly and frustrating. Several large Salmon splashing about.
Pegs not in woods seem to be late in the day ones. Great stretch of river.

Love this beat. Just enough access and fast water. Slow start on meat - a usual banker for me. Went on float fished corn to catch 8 chub and some big dace and lost a trout which leapt 4’ in the air. Finished session in the deeper water after barbel with pellet and caught 8 more chub - bigger than those on the float but nothing over 4lb. Good sport.
Ps retrieved another ‘anglers’ big fixed lead to at least 20 lb line and a big barbed hook. Not good.
Pls hardly any fry but more weed - albeit the dark green stuff.

Always good to be beside the wye but being a new beat to us it's a bit of a learning curve. Well maintained beat with very easy directions & access, and no real 'gear lugging' necessary. Being sociable we started off 2pmish at a peg below the middle of the beat which would accommodate us both. Bit of a mistake as we were on a concealed ,inside bend & every convoy of canoes came round the overhanging willows & straight into our lines.; There were a LOT of canoes ... I suppose to be expected in the holiday period. This coupled with the fact we lost all our terminal tackle every other retrieve prompted a move up to the top of the beat where the Vikings could see us in advance & most were polite & paddled to the far side. Not that it did us any good as we had only one bite just as we had decided to call it at 7pm
Anyone who's tried to unhook an eel will sympathise when I say we wish we'd left 5 minutes earlier; Anyway she swam off none the worse.
I can see that a lot of work is put into running this beat , so thank you for that & the opportunity to fish it.
We will do better next time.
