Fenni Fach very low as expected but good sport once again on flat slow water where trout were lying deep. Klinkhamer induced many rises and 4 WBT came to the net ranging 6 - 10 inches. All safely returned. There was an interesting period where seemingly hundreds of fish locked on to midge mating-balls. This lasted for about an hour during the late afternoon. I tried various imitations (Grifitths gnat etc) but couldn't tempt them away from the feast. Amazing to watch so many fish feeding in such a care-free way.

Just like my previous trip to White House, the river was very low and the weather pretty hot & sunny. I started fishing at about 8am, but didn't manage to catch a single fish until about 6pm. The last 2 hours of the day were a great improvement with 3 Barbel up to 8lb and 2 Chub up to 4lb.
The fish were all caught on Halibut pellets. After such a long fishless spell earlier it was a great ending to the day.

Fishing:All Species (in season)
Nil catch at Upper Bigswear today, which was a little frustrating as there were grilse and larger salmon showing every-where, particularly just below the Triangles pool.

Nice day out, mix of rain and sun cold wind etc.
2 nice greyling and a fat 9" trout. All on spiders, down and across in the fastest water I could find, just below the first set of planks. Did not see anything move all day, klinkhammer and nymph did not work for me. Very pleasant day, plenty of buzzards and kingfishers as well.
Every time I am on this beat I meet someone interesting, last time it was a South African, this time it was a Russian....

After first trip back in may we took a few mates with us to experience the remoteness and sporting little browns, sadly the rains had coloured the res to something resembling "Bovril" I'm sure fish could not see fly unless it was pulled by their nose, seen only 2 fish rise all day but it was a coldish NNW brisk wind. 18 fish between us, nothing over 250mm. Little gold head variants seemed the only way to get to a hook up. Other flies induced pulls but seldom resulted in hooking fish...one can't help wondering why no bigger fish show, any one have any theories?
