A later session Planned to fish in to later evening started at 1.30 pm and straight in to fish on nymphs at the lower end in the 8-12 inch size.
Although river low ,there was some colour in the water and in deeper pools visibility was poor.
Moving up towards bridge and 3 guys were spinning above ,we approached and asked them to leave and a bit of verbal and off they went.
More signage would be good as there lots of people walking the one bank.
A sporadic 20 mins on the drys in the faster water accounted for two nice 2 lbers ,Oliver clink hammer, and that was it,we stayed til 10.pm but disappointed with surface activity.Great hatches of olives and spinners the ducks were having a feast but not the trout.

Rainbow caught on spinner just after 8am on 5th or 6th cast then nothing all day, water level very low with algi starting to form on surface . Only consolation was the sight of an Osprey putting in a short appearance scouting the reservoir eventually diving down on the opposite side of the reservoir after a fish, a first for me and a privalige to have seen this amazing bird of prey.

River was up a bit with colour in the morning, dropped by the evening. Fished the upper section. Nice water with deeper water at the top and shallow faster water by the fire. Barbel came from 2nd swim up from the fire but went quite about 1pm. Moved to the fire swim for the evening and lost 2 barbel due to using long shank hooks. First time I’ve pulled out a barbel so not using them again. Shame about the fire as the beat is quality otherwise. Barbel covered in lice. Not sure if £25 is a fair price anymore given the river not being at its best. Just saying! End on a positive, there are a few salmon in the top pool.
3 Barbel, 5 Chub
