This beat is just over a mile of right bank fishing a few miles west of Leominster. The river here has a lowland character, meandering through fields with deep pools on each corner. Wading is necessary to fish this water, the silt and gravel riverbed making for relatively easy going. The beat is best fished in spring and access is a challange from early summer onwards
Ideally fished with a 7-7½ft, 3 to 4wt rod.
There was an outbreak of crayfish plague in the lower Irfon in July 2024. Visiting anglers MUST ensure against cross contamination by approved check/dry/disinfection procedures, and importantly waders, nets and tackle should be sprayed with Virkon Aquatic Broad Spectrum Virucidal Disinfectant before and after fishing.
