1.75 miles of the double bank fishing on the lower river Tarrell that flows from the Brecon Beacons through the western side of Brecon into the main river Usk. The Tarrell is a key Usk spawning tributary but is also known for producing some excellent trout up to 2 pounds but the average fish being around 10-12 inches. Chest waders are recommended as there are a few deep pools but thigh waders will allow you to fish the majority of the beat.

There was an outbreak of crayfish plague in the lower Irfon on the Wye catchment in July 2024 resulting in the deaths of the many of the native white-clawed crayfish. This beat contains a healthy population of native crayfish therefore, visiting anglers MUST ensure against cross contamination by approved check/dry/disinfection procedures, and importantly waders, nets and tackle should be sprayed with Virkon disinfectant before and after fishing.
