River at about 0.75m on the NRW Erwood Gauge and about 15 deg on the WUF gauge. So a little higher and cooler than of late but still on the low side. Fished a variety of nymphs, either under a dry fly or straight lined. Had to cover a lot of water to find the odd fish. 2 trout and 3 grayling all caught on nymphs, all between about 10" and 13". Lost a slightly better grayling at the net. A few pale olives about but did not see a single fish rise. Did see a cormorant at the bottom of the beat.

A brilliant days fishing. It started slowly. I must have spent at least an hour hunkered down under my umbrella as a thunderstorm circled. On the plus side it did reduce the canoe traffic but a few hardy souls were on the water with lightning flashing round them. I fished a faster stretch first and weed was a bit of a problem and the bank was extremely slick from the rain. I did get a couple of decent chub there. I moved to a safer and slower swim and was surprised by the results. The biggest barbel was 7lb 8 oz. I also had another over 7 lb and 2 over 6 lb. The chub were normal Wye standard - up to 4 lb. All were caught on feeder with meat or boilie on the hair.
7 Barbel, 14 Chub

walked entire length of upper court hill fishery only found 1 swim even possible to fish as bank completely over grown so both of us in 1 swim whole swim and surrounding trees covered in snapped off hook lengths when i did get to cast got caught up on line in the water then the storm hit and with all the fork lightning we gave up after an hour. what a complete waste of 50 quid. I have since found out we could have fished the lower court section which I am told has better and more accessable swims however would want to see these before spending any more money.
