What a river.

Fish absolutely everywhere, in places you’d deem too shallow or not fishy at all, but very fussy and spook easy.
It took me about 10 different dry flies to find out what they were eating, and even then some fish were spooking.

I caught and returned 4, countless takes and lost a nice fish of about 1lb in weight right at the bank.

River had good flow. Bite a cast at some times. Lots of 3-4 lb chub and a couple of 4lb barbel. Lovely days fishing, thanks to Wye & Usk Foundation, great service.

I hadn't been here for a couple of seasons and it was barely recognisable. Water was looking fresh and clear after recent thunder storms. Winkled a few out of the faster water with the Tenkara rod and a small kebari. Gave up after a couple of hours as the wind was making it very difficult to control the line.

Tried several parts of the Wyebank run but only got takes at the lower end. All but one fish came to rolled meat. Fairly easy wading to the edge of the deeper water and just a flick put the bait in the run on a lightly weighted line. The fish seemed to be holding at all depths. Almost every run through triggered interest.
Ironically, the best fish, a 5lb barbel came when I paused wading for lunch, parked myself in the chair and the rod in the rest after casting out a Haiths red pellet.

I arrived around 8.15am to find the river had returned to normal level. I began fishing half way along the island with GB feeder and luncheon meat and had my first chub within literally 10 seconds. 4 more followed then I changed to trotted meat feeding in a handful of pellets every third cast. In three and a half hours a caught 45 chub on this method - crazy!
I stopped at 12.40 and roved upstream with the feeder, and only managed another 5 in 7 hours!
All ranged from a pound and a half to around four.
Sadly no barbel, but perhaps a little early? Very little weed in the river which is not a good sign.

Fished from 4pm until dusk. River very low and going tough. Waders are pretty essential right now.

Did not fish this beat, very over grown and very limited access to any swims. Certainly none that my quite able 75 year old Dad was comfortable to fish. Very disappointing that WUF state that access to the river is easy once you have walked the 300 yards to the river - this is not correct. Long walk to get over the hill to the wooded area which a best had 2 just about fishable swims.
Very disappointing and I would like a refund please WUF
