Delayed booking anywhere till the last minute due to the threat of rain and that there was a bit more water in the river but decided to give it a go.

Arrived about 10:00 and fishing the top two pools getting about 10 fish between me and the old man including a nice trout and grayling. Wondered off down the bottom after lunch but not much happening down there except for some enthusiastic small ones though we did manage another 5. It seems when the water is higher the bottom pools don’t fish as well? Could also just be incompetence.

Finished back up the top with another 5. The trout that live up in the deep gutters at the top end are always noticeably darker in colour than the ones who reside in the faster water.

All fish caught on various dry flies and safely returned. Another good day at one of our favourite beats on the upper wye. Hopefully weather and time depending we’ll get one more visits in before the season finishes. Thank you

due to the limited swims and 3 other anglers on beat we plumped for the only swim left by style at bottom of beat . lost lot of tackle due to lots of clinker on river bed not one bite all day ? 2 of the other anglers reported lots of tackle loss and 2 fish . never again?

Fishing Passport Note : There was only one other angler booked in that day. Please call the Booking Office if you suspect people fishing who should not be.

Very long beat but all good with car. Fishing was great however around the bridge there were many noisy families even one family launching two dinghy’s meters from swim we were fishing. So advice is to avoid school holidays.

Disappointed with the canoeists and their attitude towards anglers. Not only did they snap line and drag rigs into rocks with the boat they also swore and complained. They spoilt the day.
