We both blanked on this session. we fished 2 pegs downstream of the no fishing section. A lovely day with lovely views but unfortunately the fishing didn’t match up. Parking by the Severn Trent water station wasn’t very clear and it looked like there was only enough room for one car... we ended up using a lay by further downstream. I would say this was our least favourite stretch out of the 3 we booked.

This section is other bank to Home Farm for most of its length. Parking is difficult I could not get in near water works as space for one car only on river side of the road and locals had parked their cars in places other side of the road. I then parked in layby further down the road and found a swim down stream from this. It was outcrop of rocks which I fished from, the river bed was so bad that I lost a hook link or worse a feeder and hook link on most casts, I would recommend not to fish this area. The fishery management team could easily create a parking area next to Water works by simple widening the track into the fishery and creating a parking area in that corner of the field. More work is also required to improve the safety and comfort of the swims that are available, anglers need to be able to get to the water side to safely return fish rather than chuck them back from several feet up. I would suggest to any anglers who are not into scrambling up and down banks to avoid this section, there is more accessible fishing available. A little work on the swims would improve this section.
Fishing Passport Note: the banks of both the Wye and Usk are protected as a Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs). There are, therefore, strict limits as to what can be done with regards bank clearance, which has to be done sensitively and in compliance with the law. Inevitably there will be many inaccessible sections, especially in the peak bank growth months of July and August. We ask all anglers to please bear this in mind when booking Fishing Passport beats and not to assume fishery managers are not doing their job if some areas are overgrown.

Beautiful fishery with lots of areas to go at. Thanks to Terry for spending the time to show us several possible locations. A tough day where it was essential to find where the fish were. 2 Barbel eventually obliged but, strangely, no chub at all.

The river level was quite low, but we decided to set up on the beach at the upstream end of the beat and fish the far bank. We were encouraged when my mate had an 8 1/2 lb Barbel and 5 1/2 lb Chub. However, decent bites and fish were very hard to come by, but we did manage a few more. Despite the lack of fish, it was a thoroughly enjoyable day.
