Hard work today. Just one take on the nymph (and shaken off) and no rising fish (other than tiny graylets). I don'r recall seeing such low water levels in June

Fished in the morning from 9am till 1pm. Tried the upper part of the beat up along the wood. One nice WBT approx 10” on a large dry sedge safely returned and a couple of takes missed.

The river was very low and clear which made fishing hard. The banks on this stretch are dangerously steep and certainly not conducive to a comfortable days fishing, so we only fished from 11.00 - 16.00. I won’t be booking here again.

Fab second day. All fish using feeder method (except the trout and one small chub which were caught on fly). The two barbel we're awesome and both around 8lb but very strong and solid fish both caught in the early evening. Had a couple of 2lb chub and many small chub youngsters. We stayed at the glamping site at Whitney Bridge which was excellent although not the cheapest but I'd still recommend it.

Pretty hard going, very low. Frustrating on the drys, top of beat changed so much with winter floods, not as nice to fish, massive move of the river bed and stone,
6 fish,biggest about 2 lbs,in fast run below bridge.
Otter holt upper beat under tree was stinking with otter smell,it toke my breath away when wading passed it.

Access very difficult either side and with several livestock fences across the river making movement upstream from the parking space bridge unrealistically difficult. Not worth fishing - and that's not because we didn't catch.

Weather and river looked promising and in the first 30 yards of Lyepole I caught 3 fish (1 grayling and 2 trout) using French Leader and nymphs. Unfortunately catch rate rapidly declined and it became a bit of a struggle after that. Above the bridge switched to the duo and caught one more trout on a PTN, however after a savage take by a trout on the sedge indicator I was using, I moved on to dries and caught one more grayling and two trout on sedges. Only two small hatches of fly seen and it was during these that the dries were taken. Overall a good day’s fishing.
