Very enjoyable day on this lovely fishery. River was very low and clear and the wind was blowing a hooley but managed 3 nice barbel and an eel. Had a nice chat with the bailiff who is always very helpful. Will be back soon.

The river was running with a tinge of colour so I started with nymphs in the pocket water. I had a good response with fish hitting hard, some coming to the net, and some on and off. Latter on there was some surface activity to olives, needle fly and pale wateries so I was able to have to finish this short season on the Usk with the dry fly. All fish in good condition and returned ranging from 12" - 16".

A great day on the Wye at Lower Symonds Yat. The river is in fine fettle with several fish seen, though none caught. Another angler landed a salmon in Oak Tree Crib pool just after I had fished it.

Low and very clear river, bright sunny conditions and very windy - not a bite all day and tried everything!

Very hard work finding the fish today, but a lovely day.

BTW the wading is quite deceptive: it suddenly and often unexpectedly gets very slippy. We would both regard ourselves as good waders but both fell in, even with wading staffs. Although in retrospect this was probably quite feeble, would recommend staffs and probably also felt soles with studs (which we stupidly left at home !!).

All a bit tricky due to strong wind, low water and plenty of sun
