Despite the rain over the last few days, the river was low. Very few fish showing in the afternoon or evening. Occasional fish reacting to a trickle of upwings, which is how I caught my one fish and missed another. I used a small Grey Wulf.
I love this beat, but shame the pub wasn't open for a welcoming pint at the end. Being refurbished after flooding I read.

Again, an overcast day (temp circa 18 degrees) with on and off rain through the session, but on a rising river due to the overnight rain (river level 0.51m @ the Mordiford station as of 11:15am 27/07/20). Fished 4hr session from 1pm - 5pm.
Fished The Lucky Stones peg, some treacherous walk that, catching from the first cast. Caught 9 fish within the first hour. Fished 50g closed swimfeeder, packed with 4mm pellets, and a banded 10mm pellet on the hook. Started filling the feeder during the session with hemp and 4mm pellets, which may have been a mistake, started catching more chub in lieu of the barbel. Lost 2 barbel to hook pulls.
Points of note:- the path through and to the woods is hilly, the path when wet is treacherously slippery, getting down to the pegs is difficult when wet, and so taking a rope with you is advised.
Tight lines all.
