Some LDO hatches in the early afternoon, also a few march browns and caddis around - and a few fish rose, caught four all on dry flies. Biggest a nice 17"er that was deceptively big - she had been barely kissing the surface gently taking trapped duns in an eddy, almost didn't notice her. The fish all looked in pretty good condition already, and the biggest gave a good scrap leaping several times before she came to the net. Very quiet outside of the hatches - not a sniff on any wet flies, but was great while it lasted and lovely to get off the mark for the year. All released as usual - thanks again!

River was at 1m so it bit high which impacted how far out I could wade which made covering the water a little challenging. This was not a surprise as the owner talked me through it which is very helpful. There is access to the other bank but you need to be there with the owner on the phone to find it, and I did not have time.
Two nice trout just up from the bridge.

First trip out on the river this season, underestimated the volume of water pushing through a little, nevertheless made the journey, no going back at least for a couple of hours….
Managed to creep in just above the bridge no more than knee deep far enough to get around a 20 meter cast away. Fourth cast down and around size 14 gold head PT nymph hooked a brown around 10 inches unfortunately slipped the hook a couple of feet from the net.
Eventually after 4 hours or so netted and released 2 further browns around 9>10 inches.
Headed home will be back when levels drop a little.
