First visit to this venue and type of river, Great day landed 5 browns 10-12" and a huge minnow on nymphs and dry's
windy all day made it difficult to detect takes but really enjoyed my visit

Fished for an hour in the morning and a similar time in late evening only on the part of the beat adjacent to the caravan park. Did not observe a lot of fish activity although managed to hook and lose 3 smallish trout on small dry. A cold upstream wind was probably not helpful. Nevertheless it is a nice stretch and I look forward to fishing it again.

7 x trout 6-12 inches, Monnow Gosling. Rise to mayfly began mid-afternoon, but generally rather quiet.

River in good condition, overcast with an upstream breeze. Fished the afternoon. Mayfly were hatching throughout but largely ignored by the fish. Enough evidence of feeding just below the surface to keep me interested. Six fish caught with several lost. Fishing duo style at one stage I managed to connect with two Grayling simultaneously, one to the elk hair dry and one to a black magic nymph. Quite an achievement bringing both to the net successfully!

Lovely day on good stretch of river but few insects and trout not rising

9" and focussed on bottom half, moved a fish on the sunray in Glangwye.

River at 9" Tried the low water spots and moved a fish to the sunray in the Spring pool gutter. Fish came twice to the sunray, but wouldn't look at a wet fly.
