A tough day with "midsummer" conditions coupled with a low clear river & an otter seen 3 times on the upper stretch actively fishing.
Only the 1 fish just on dark but a good one over 9lb.

A lovely last day's salmon fishing of 2018 on the Wye.
12 lb hen for Gordon Walters at the Stones around midday on a cascade. Again no other contact for us but a possible sighting! Many thanks to Mick for his expert netsmanship with the fish never leaving the water and leaving us at some speed.Fished pm at Vanstone in a swarm (?) of ladybirds. Very hot with annoying upstream gusts at times.

An absolutely fantastic October day - great weather and excellent company. A second day spent guiding Javier, Philippe and Nicholas visiting the area from France. All learning to fish French leader and mostly with success - top rod for the day being Javier with a healthy 17 grayling. Fish ranging in size from half a pound to two pound. Duo working well on the flats. Best fish of the day caught by Philippe out of the gutter on a FMJ promptly followed by a swim.

Taken at the top of Rectory pool on a small Willie Gunn tube. About 15 lb - my personal best, and my first fish of the season (but I have two more days booked!). A dark coloured fish - not surprising at this time of year. Weather very warm after a cold misty start to the day.
Stayed at the Old Mill B&B in Felinfach. Friendly, half way between the Usk and the Wye and close to the two best dining pubs in this part of the world.
