The river was quite low. It was around 27 or 28 degrees and very sunny. We started fishing around 14:30 through to 21:00.
We fished under the trees below the shallows where there appears to be a deeper section. I was using a running lead plus 12mm halibut pellet while Chris was using a cage feeder with the same bait.
We had a great day and this is a lovely stretch of the Wye with plenty of scope for future visits. The Fishing Passport and booking system works really well.

Despite being one of the hottest days of the year our 11am-6pm session was highly enjoyable on a river lower than I have seen it-and really 'showing its bones'. Some of the usual far bank barbel swims were covered in silkweed and did not produce to waggler or feeder.
When you found fish in the fastest water possible and it was 3 foot deep the chub and barbel were willing to feed even in the hottest part of the day. All but one chub came to floatfished meat or carp pellet over mainly hemp and pellet feed. Chub were up to about 4 1/2 lb and the barbel between 6- 7lb. Great sport on float tackle.
Friend Keith only just back on the fishing scene after as forced absence to golf couldn't believe how good the Wye was and got so excited he collapsed with cramp just before he could have his photo taken with a nice barbel. We couldn't wait for him to recover but the barbel did and swum away strongly. I still haven't seen beat 6 - wonder if there is faster water down there.

Fishing bottom pool had a wonderful days fishing - myself did not start fishing until 1pm and caught 47 barbel, 2 chub & 3 dace on feeder with 8mm pellet on hook , had the best barbel of 10.2lb from this section normally a nursery water with most fish between 1 - 3lb. Steve started at 10.30am and had 34 barbel, 3 chub (PB of 5.3lb) on similar method , water level just below summer level also good to see Don (always good for local knowledge).
